Cleaner for electrical contacts. Effective against viruses and bacteria.
This alcohol serves as an antiseptic, solvent and has particular cleaning properties. The liquid is colourless, rapidly flammable and has a slightly sweet and pungent odour.
It is completely miscible with ethanol and water and has a boiling point of 82ºC. This alcohol volatility and its solvent capacity make it ideal for some applications. It is very important to note that this alcohol cannot be ingested because of its toxicity, it is irritating to the mucous membranes of the eyes and nose, and is flammable, so it must be handled with the necessary precautions.
- Sanitising agent:
Isopropanol is available as a pure substance in pharmacies and drugstores. A common aqueous solution is 70% (V/V). Isopropyl alcohol is always used when the skin is to be cleaned (disinfected) of germs before operations (vaccinations, injections, minor operations) or when the multiplication of germs is to be contained after injuries within the framework of wound treatment and care. It is also used to disinfect surfaces and medical instruments after contamination by body fluids and to disinfect hands before and after contact with patients.
- Solvent agent:
Serves as an extraction and cleaning agent for natural products. It is present in cosmetic products as a solvent and diluent. It is used as a solvent for coating or industrial processes of a non-polar nature and for polishing lacquer used in cabinet making.
- Cleanser agent:
Dissolves dirt and grease.
